Miss B was very anxious to see the Sphinx. That was the one thing she said she wanted to see in Egypt. We watched several documentaries on Netflix about the Sphinx and pyramids.
But actually seeing the Sphinx in person was kind of anti-climactic. It was surprisingly-small, dwarfed by the pyramids, and in such bad condition, that I ended up feeling rather sorry for the poor thing. Our pictures look far more impressive than the reality of the poor Sphinx.

Loving the photos!
ReplyDeleteI think it's interesting that you said the Sphinx was anticlimactic --I felt the same way about Stonehenge. I mean, I loved seeing it and touring it, but when we drove up to it, we were like, "That's it?" it seemed so much bigger in pictures than in real life.
But I'm guessing that's how it is with a lot of things, eh?
I love the pictures, too. I don't know when/if we'll ever get to Egypt (or Saudi Arabia for that matter), so I really appreciate your blog!
